Safeguarding

We expect all parents and visitors to follow the signing in procedure via the front reception desk except for special events such as parents’ evenings which have a separate signing in procedure. All visitors to the school are expected to wear ‘visitor’ labels at all times whilst on the premises. They are to be handed in when signing out.

All members of staff must wear official identification passes in full view using lanyards distributed by the school.

Health and Safety

We take our health and safety responsibilities very seriously. The School’s health and safety responsibilities derive from the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the associated Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The legislation is based on the duty to assess and manage risk and is usually enforced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The Governing Body, will so far as is reasonably practicable, ensure that all activities under its control are carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, relevant regulations, approved codes of practice, guidance notes, the Health and Safety Policy of Birmingham City Council and with due regard to advice and information provided by the Authority's advisors.

We therefore, will do what is reasonably practicable to exceed the minimum requirements within the resources that are available. The Governing Body, Head teacher or relevant delegated committee will also ensure that systems are in place that allow the school to maintain, monitor and, where necessary, carry out risk assessments, which will allow it to improve its safety performance.

In return, the Governing Body expects staff, students, visitors and those using the school premises to adhere to the principles of this policy and assist those responsible in carrying out their obligations as required.
